Dungannon

Dungannon is a quaint village located in West Wawanosh Township, part of ACW Township.  This author believes that per capita, Dungannon may be the Ontario Cottage Capital of Ontario. Ontario Cottage is an architectural style commonly built in the 1820s.  It remained a common style until the end of that century. They were mainly built in rural and small town areas of Ontario. Dungannon, an historical and charming village has many affordable housing options.

Most children from the area attend Brookside Public School located just south of Lucknow.  There are buses that also take students to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Goderich.  High School students attend Goderich District Collegiate Institute or F.E. Madill Secondary School located in Wingham.

The Village is located a short six minute drive from the shores of Lake Huron.  The area is a favourite for anglers along the Nine-Mile River.  West Wawanosh Nature Centre is a great place for nature enthusiasts.   Dungannon has recently seen interest as a location for second homes.  The agricultural vistas are second to none.  Many local cottage industries are within minutes of Dungannon.  Cranston Farms Maple Syrup is located just north of the village.

Dungannon is home to West Wawanosh Insurance Mutual Insurance, Dungannon Kitchens, and Dauphin Feed & Supply.  Every June, the Village of Dungannon plays host to the Dungannon Super Pull.
